A number of people have asked to hear more about my process. The first print here is called the first pull. It’s just the image wiped away from a fully inked plate. The second image is the ghost. It’s the ink left from the first pull plus a few small additions. I’m not totally happy with the ghost. I’ll go back and rework it tomorrow. Most images just flow through but from time to time an image sticks in my craw and I’ll work on it over and over doing 10 or more versions until I feel satisfied

I’m obsessed with this image. Truth: An artist is just a conduit for creative energy to flow into the world. The ego might argue, but art is a service profession

Todays print is a ghost print from yesterday’s print. I don’t believe in cleaning my monotype plates. Sacrilege!!! Yesterday’s image adds character to my next printing session. Sometimes when I return to the plate, the image is still working through me, so I add some more ink here and there. Then I print the second pull, also called the “ghost”. That’s what today’s image is.
